Rosellas belong to the
Malvaceae family and have the botanical name
Hibiscus.sabdariffa. I make jam and cordial from the fruit but the young tender leaves of the plant can be used like spinach and the petals of the flowers can be added to salads.
This is my first entry for
Today's Flowers.
Lindas fotos! As flores da primeira foto parecem olhar para mim.
ReplyDeleteMargaret, your photos of the Rosella really do show just how lovely the flowers are. It's been regarded as such an old-fashioned plant for so long now, it's about time it had a popularity surge! I think I might just have to get one for my own garden.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for dropping by my Bush Bernie blog and leaving your kind comment. Sounds like the rain is pretty widespread across Qld. We've had enough of it now. The all-time record for rainfall in March was passed easily this year, and it only took two days to smash the April record as well! This 'wet' just won't let up.
